Display & Design

When fully opened the Mate XT 2 delivers a 10.2-inch 3K OLED canvas that is only 3.5 mm thick and weighs 299 g, making it the lightest tri-fold ever built. Closing it protects the flexible panel behind the crease, because both hinges now fold inward, and the 6.5-inch cover screen with a 6,500 nits peak lets you use it like a normal bar phone.

Performance

The Kirin 9050 Pro is the first device-confirmed implementation of Huawei’s new LogicFolding architecture, claimed to be 42% faster than the previous generation with an improved NPU and GPU. It starts with 16 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of storage, and the whole platform runs HarmonyOS 7 with satellite communication built in.

Camera

The rear setup spans four modules: a 50 MP RYYB LOFIC main sensor with a variable aperture, a 50 MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, a 40 MP ultra-wide and the third-generation Red Maple multispectral color camera for truer colors. An 8 MP selfie camera sits on both the main panel and the cover screen.

Battery & Charging

The 5,600 mAh battery charges with 66 W wired SuperCharge or 50 W wireless charging, which is reasonable for a device this thin. Huawei rates it IP58 and IP59 against dust and water splashes despite two hinges and three panels.

Pros

  • Unique inward-folding tri-fold with a 10.2-inch panel
  • Lightest tri-fold at 299 g with IP58 / IP59 rating
  • First Kirin 9050 Pro and HarmonyOS 7
  • Hardware privacy screen and ECG edge buttons
  • Up to 2 TB of storage

Cons

  • Extremely expensive
  • No Google services
  • Limited to China for now
